Book Donations

DUE TO LIBARY CONSTRUCTION, THE FRIENDS BOARD HAS TEMPORARILY PAUSED OUR BOOK DONATION COLLECTION.

If you have a large collection you would like to donate, i.e., from an estate, please email the board at admin@friendsbexlib.org to discuss.

ONCE LIBRARY CONSTRUCTION IS COMPLETE, if you would like to donate gently used books for us to sell in our biannual book sale, please leave them on the loading dock in back of Bexley Public Library or contact the Friends at admin@friendsbexlib.org. They may also be dropped off at the circulation desk in the library lobby.

The Friends Board will be seeking donations of newer books by popular authors, unique older books in excellent condition, DVDs, music CDs, and audio books on CD. Books and other media should be in very good condition.

Please evaluate books and media for tears, water stains, yellowed or brittle pages, broken bindings, pages that have been highlighted or written on, scratched or cracked multi-media. The library does not accept textbooks; encyclopedias; magazines; books relating to science, technology, or computers that are over five years old; discarded books from other libraries or book sales; audiovisual materials with adult ratings; or pornography in any format.

Once materials are donated, they are considered unrestricted donations and become sole property of the library. Donations may or may not be added to the collection. Library staff cannot assign a cash value to donation items and appraisal of items for tax purposes is the donor’s responsibility. Library staff may provide donors with a written acknowledgement of the donation for tax records upon request. Staff may not assist in the delivery of book donations.
